The T
ools for Effective Living, which comprise this material, have been what has sustained me in my journey to become a better, more complete person. As a person who suffered from low self-esteem and low self-confidence, I discovered that these principles added significant substance to my life and changed how I perceived myself and the world.
The tools – comprised of how consciously we think, how compassionately we speak, making forgiveness a necessary process, spending time in the silence through meditation and a number of other practices – helped me understand that all humans existing in this wonderful world had a purpose and reason for being. The Divine created us with intention. And I learned there was an intentional order to how we experienced, communicated, reasoned and loved during the course our lives. It also brought to light an awesome truth—we are co-creators with God through the use of free will, and as such, we are responsible for our creations.
I began calling the aspects that I lovingly use today the “Tools for Effective Living,” because that was what they were to me. How do these relate to Self-Care? Taking care of self is a process by which we use a myriad of procedures accessible to us. A tool is regarded as necessary to the carrying out of one’s occupation or profession. It can also be a person used to carry out the designs of another. A tool can be used to help repair an item that is broken or build an object that you desire from raw materials. We, humans, are both broken and raw in living a purpose-filled life.
One of the ways in which we try to make life better is by offering our lives in service for the benefit of others. But an important aspect of service is being healthy in body, mind, emotions and spirit. If we are not able to sustain ourselves appropriately, the service to others we desire to offer could be hindered and shorten for lack of energy to perform. As our knowledge and understanding expands concerning our behaviors, we more clearly know how everything blends together for optimal self-care. These tools enable you to build yourself to obtain all of the divine energy available. We replenish ourselves, not primarily from outside sources, but by getting in touch with our inner essence.
Based on what you choose to implement from the pages in this book, you will find opportunities to live more effectively during the course of your life. A short-cut to life is non-existent and relative to your faith in the Divine Creator. Don’t work these tools to satisfy the self, but to satisfy the Creator God who is the sustainer of life. These tools, you will find, address the existence of your life and substance. There are actions steps for effective living included in each chapter. Find out how effective you are in manifesting and achieving your life desires.
