Visualization is one of the best methods to aid efforts to making life changes. I recommend it because its free, easy and something you can do anywhere, anytime. When your goal is a life free of anxiety and stress, visualization helps you to see the possibilities that can feel out of reach when life is chaotic.
Visualization is also practical. Our minds are powerful and meant to help us navigate life. Picturing an ideal day, for example, might not seem helpful, but your brain doesn’t know it’s just your imagination.
When you can “see” a new way to your best day at work (for example) your brain will start to help make it your reality.
I know, this is a lot to understand but that’s the best part! You don’t have to “believe” in this for it to work. Take a few minutes every day and create your ideal day vision.
Here’s an exercise that can be helpful.
Picture yourself calm, centered and focused. Stress free and having a great day at work. How do you look? What are your surroundings? Who is there with you? Fill in the details.
Once that’s in your mind, ask yourself “how did I get here?”
How did this happen? What changes were made to have this stress-free feeling at work?
Often, you’ll get new insights that you weren’t aware of before.
Perhaps you see yourself at a different desk. Maybe your co-workers are interacting with you differently. You might even see yourself at work at a new time or even a new place!
What steps can you take to start making the changes so your reality fits your vision?
Don’t worry if the first few times things don’t’ “feel new”. Visioning is easy, but it may take a couple of attempts to start to embrace that stress-free and happy is truly possible. Trust that your vision will manifest in your life.
Give your brain and yourself a chance to have a happy, calm, and fulfilling work and personal life.
